The staff at the Crown pub on New Oxford Street were very patient in redirecting lost softballers to the Old Crown about 100 yards closer to Holborn. I can report that the New Crown 100 yards towards Tottenham Court Road does not exist yet. It would be too confusing.

Up the rickety stairs to the small room, it was a pleasure to be in the warmth where the small bar happily sold beer in bottles, wines and spirits. Those who wanted pints or draught beer had the two-storey trudge down and back up to their friends. I didn't hear of any one dropping their drinks en route.

Julie’s pleas for raffle prizes finally bore fruit and there was a cornucopia of goodies, not just books, available to those who wanted to try their luck. Even the bar staff got involved - and the barman won twice. More than £100 was raised for Macmillan Nurses cancer appeal, for which much thanks to all concerned. 

Then came the awards ceremony and congratulations to every team who picked up a trophy. The trophies were handed out to the following teams:

Division 1 Winners -  Ticklers
Division 1 Runners up - Carlton Piranhas
Division 2 Winners - Raiders Indigo
Division 2 Runners up - Bitches

The Ticklers thus completed a not-so-rare double of League champions and PSL Cup-winners. The Piranhas also completed a double, being two-time runners-up.

The party was the last chance for PSL players to chat and reminisce about the season. But, never mind, the new season is just a few weeks away and, who knows, it may stop snowing in time!!
