About PSL PDF Print E-mail

The Publishers Softball League is one of the oldest continuously running
slo-pitch leagues in England, in 2007 celebrating its 20th anniversary. It is open
to any team with a publishing link, and we have had newspapers, magazines,
comics, bookshops, literary agents, book charities, music publishers,
on-line publishers and book publishers in our league during this time. It is
not limited to companies, but we would prefer to see a link with
the publishing or media industry.

The PSL caters to all levels of play from 20-year softball veterans to
absolute rookies, but the emphasis is on recreational, with umpiring left,
in the main, to various members of the batting team in that particular game
and then just one person. We follow ASA rules, with a few exceptions, such
as unrestricted substitutions, the absence of infield fly and outfield
depths. Membership has been as high as 30 but currently  stands
around 10. A typical schedule is 12 matches, played from early May to late
August.
